Massive Police Assault on Occupy Oakland

Massive Police Assault on Occupy Oakland

This was one of the first videos I saw posted on YouTube of the assaults.  It has some very good late night footage and great commentary by Sam Seder (nevermind the screen shot of him picking his nose).

For those who were involved in the assaults, we would love to hear from you!!  Also, if you have any footage, we would love to post it here on the S.U.P blog.

We will try to keep everyone posted on any further developments with lawsuits that are sure to follow these events.

Voices of Veterans: A Welcome Home Ceremony

Voices of Veterans: A Welcome Home Ceremony
For veterans from Iraq, Afghanistan, and other wars
Thursday, November 10th, 2011 ~ 7 PM
First Unitarian Universalist Church
1187 Franklin Street at Geary, San Francisco, CA

This Welcome Home Ceremony brings together veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, veterans of other wars with the local community. It intends to help heal the distance between the warriors and those they protect and to bridge the gaps between war and peace, trauma and renewal, pain and understanding. Such a welcoming involves a courageous community conversation that moves beyond politics and goes deeper than the rhetoric of war. It begins with tragedy and loss—the aftermath of any war—and requires the language of poetry and story, as well as the dignity of ceremony.

Students United for Peace to Continue Publishing

Due to a renewed interest in Students United for Peace, we have decided to continue publishing.  We have cleared the web page of all spam and are in the process of answering all of your emails and comments.

I would like to thank all the students and activists who have contacted us in the past year.  Unfortunately, Students United for Peace is no longer meeting on the UC Berkeley Campus.  We will post information on any further meetings as soon as they can be arranged.

For the time being, we would like to continue to use this website as an information point for activists interested in connection with other activists.

It is more important now than ever for us to stay connected and informed.  As the United States continues its war on the Middle East, and as the Economic Crisis continues to take a toll on American Universities, Workers, and Families, it is crucial that we continue to make our voice heard and insist that war is not an option.
